It seems like just yesterday, but it was 56 years ago today (1959) that I stepped off the plane at Tan Son Nhat Airport beginning my journey with you in Saigon.

What a wonderful blessing that has become over the years!

On a whim on this day in 2008, I launched this website into the blogosphere of cyberspace hoping to create a central place for us all to reconnect and stay connected with each other over the years.

7 years later, 977 Posts with 3,957 Comments, what an amazing and wonderful place it has evolved into as a collection of our life and times as Saigon Kids.

“In the end all we are left with is memories.”

May yours be fond and many …

  • Bob,

You couldn’t look cooler (if that’s a word), unless perhaps you lost the George-Clooney-Oh-Brother-Where-Art-Thou beard.

If only school had really been like that.

Bob, congrats on another anniversary. You, and all the other Saigon Kids, provide a vital context to the history of the Vietnam War. Many thanks to all of you for sharing your memories…Mike McNally

I’ve really enjoyed this site, both for the re-connection to former school mates and for the comments and information of the contributors. Bob has done a marvelous job of running the site. I haven’t contributed much to the site in the last year or so simply because I’ve pretty much settled into a routine with thus not too much to comment on. (Really, Yeager, a loss for words? – impossible!) I hope those of you who will attend the reunion have a great time and will post lots of comments and photos. All the best.

    Bob,

Happy Anniversaries to a studious and cool looking guy in the picture! Thank you very much for this “cool” website. It is so cool because it just dawned on me you had arrived at TSN on this day in 1959, you have launched this website on this same day in 2008, and you even share this special day with Queen Elizabeth, whatever day it is. I wish you many many happy returns.

Thank you also for sharing the wonderful memories with the Sai Gon kids.

    Dear Bob,

Thanks for your efforts. After all these years you have managed to keep a memory- closeness for many of us that would have gone untouched. As one of the “kids” (’58-’60) you have helped provide me with part of my life’s time- line .

Best wishes to you and yours,

    Bootsie

I appreciate your efforts and have enjoyed this site immensely. Although I was very short term, 8 months(Jan-Aug 1964), it was the most amazing experience of my life.

  • Happy Anniversary Bob! In the next distribution, why don’t you tell us where you have been for the last two months or so? Lots of rumors from cliff hanging in Tibet to rockin in Shanghai??? Fill us in.
