In past months there has been considerable discussion on the site about the JDP Housing Compound where many Saigon Kids lived while in Saigon.
Some of you have asked for photos of the JDP Compound. So far I’ve had no luck in locating photos, but The Clods came across this film clip in those long forgotten film canisters hidden away in the *Secret Files Room* of CLOD TOWER.
Watch the video to re-visit JDP Compound …

Look familiar?
Bring back memories of by-gone days?

Anyone who recognizes the location in the video, please provide some additional information. From the Road B intersection, how would you go to the civilian air terminal at Tan Son Nhut? Please be as detailed as you can remember. Thanks….Mike McNally
Hint (according to Bob): it was across the street from the old *Golf Club de Saigon* (located about 3 miles out Hai Ba Trung (Paul Blanchy) from downtown Saigon) , which has since been converted into a public park.
Thanks, Tracy. I’m hoping that someone will recall the exact corner shown in the video and will remember how they would have gotten from that corner to the civilian air terminal at Tan Son Nhut. That terminal is still in the same location but is restricted to domestic flights.
So I’m hoping someone will tell me to go down the street in the direction the camera is traveling, or in the opposite direction, or wherever, and then turn right, or left, or whatever, and so on.
If they can’t tell me how to get from this corner to the air terminal, perhaps they will be able to give directions from this corner to the school/Third Field Hospital, or some other prominent location.
I think this short piece of film is an important clue to pin down the exact location of the JDP housing area. I’m sure I must have gone by this area a million times in the 1967-1975 era, without knowing that it had been JDP housing.
If I can pin down the exact location, I may be able to arrange for someone to take some photos showing what exists there today. Thanks….Mike McNally
Mike,
Bob is still on the JMT. He checks in with me most evenings after he gets his campsite set up. When he checks in tonight I’ll ask him if he can pin point the location on Google Earth. I’ve located the Public Park (formerly the Golf Club de Saigon) on Google Earth. But, haven’t been able to determine the location of the former JDP Compound. The last he told me is that it was on the left side of the road to Go Vap across from the Golf Club. I’ll let you know what he says after he checks in tonight.
