Frank Goes On Road Trip: Ends Up ACROSS the Ocean

(Note: This was originally left by Frank as a Comment to another Post. I’ve moved it here as a Post to keep it from getting lost in the Blog Archives where few would find it. You can view the original post HERE – Admin )

————————————————————–

Seems like I have been very busy for the past few months, so I have not kept up a very good correspondence with people. In August I worked on our house and subbed a lot at the high school.

On 14 September, my wife Susan and I left on a road trip up through Arizona, Nevada, California and Oregon. We are now on the North Shore of Oahu. We will not be back home until the end of October.

We are at our son Silas’ home. He moved here in 2006 with the hope of becoming a successful artist. It seems like that is now starting to happen.

He has all my old 33 records (about 800)..so I have had a good time sitting back and listening to some great sounds. There is a different feel to the music when it comes from a turntable! My Roy Orbison records are sure worn!! But the music is still great!!

I will not be able to send the Cds until I get back to Arizona. I now have Sondra’s address, I have Richard’s also (Do you go by Richard now rather then Dick?) But I do not have Tish’s (please send me an email of it). If anyone else wants one, let me know. Need your address though!

Gosh! This place is so NICE!!!!

I’ll try to be a liitle better at keeping up. Oh by the way Bob, you’d mentioned somewhere in past comments, you were going to have something about the ball team. Did I miss it or is it still to be written? Yea, I was thinking about it the other day. See Bob, Larry and Frank did do something positive in the good old days when many thought we were just a bunch of …….Gosh, I lost my train of thought!! lol

Hey Frank good to hear from you 🙂

Hmmmm???!!! … you “left on a ROAD trip” but ended up across the ocean in Hawaii… Okay, so now are you going to tell us “YOU CAN WALK (drive) ON WATER” .. ???!! ha ha ha ha 🙂

By the way, I’m sure you are aware Hale’iwa was once a pirates haven and smugglers den much like the Rung Sat of Vietnam … lol … wayyyyyy back in my younger days, I used to hustle pool at the old Hale’iwa Pool Hall across the street from the old Hale’iwa Theater … both of which I believe have been torn down with the ‘road improvements’ in the area … “Pave Paradise To Put Up A Parking Lot” … concept I suppose … lol

Frank BE SURE to enjoy Shave Ice at Matsumoto Store in Hale’iwa … it is worth the hour wait in line!!! The BEST Shave Ice in the world!!! I know cuz I’ve been getting them since I was a kid … lol … geezzz why do I have this sudden urge to go to Hawaii … DROOL….. lol

Check this out for a touching story about Matsumoto and how they have helped their community for generation after generation … Awesome!

It’s amazing the positive influence the owner of a little road side store can have on the lives of so many people …

Yes, the article on the ACS baseball team is still in the works … lol … I’ll post it to the Blog once it is finished … lol … so many things to write and post, yet so little time to do them … lol 🙂

Well, Frank, you and Larry were a bunch of “Gosh, I lost my train of thought” … “I” on the other hand was the shinning example of the ‘perfect’ American youth representing our country in Vietnam … (cough, cough, cough) … lol

Have a Primo Frank … turn on the sounds … and take in the view of the surfer girls on the North Shore … *wink …. 🙂

The song “Surfer Girl” comes to mind …. lol

    Alohaaaaaaaaaaaa

Dearest “shinning example of the perfect American youth”, [That’s me Frank, America’s finest, hand picked to be sacrificed to the French girls of Cercle Sprotiff … lol – Bob]

Actually we left our car and our “Chamois” Dog in Portland, of which we’ll fly back to from Hawaii, then drive home. No, never could walk on water (never could find the rocks)…but I really prefer the one about “changing water to wine”. I have been working on that one for years. Used up a lot of wine, but still can’t reverse the process!!!lol
[Frank, would that be known as ‘reverse wineosis’? LOL I hate to be the one to break the news to you, but the ‘reverse’ process only works with Ba Muoi Ba … ha ha ha – Bob]
Yea, the Hale’iwa theater and pool hall is no more. Have not had the shaved ice yet…but will!
Saw some of your old girlfriends, but they were too old for me!!!HA!…[Frank – Say man, I saw your girlfriends last night too. They were so ugly they had to sneak up on the glass to get a drink of water … Go Bo Diddley Goooo … ha ha ha – Bob] besides I’m a very married guy! Just joking!! Cheers! Aloha!!!

Keep it up guys! Now I do feel more part of that era! The reason you all may not remember Vicki and I too well (except for Frank) my father did not approve of Larry Smith. I tried getting my sister interested in him, but dad considered him way too fast for his innocent youngest daughter. But Frank was acceptable and well liked…Go figure!
