Found this in some of my Dad’s papers.It was July 1960 when travel outside of Saigon was only permitted for official travel.
Also, I heard some Americans ran into some communists while hunting that could have been much worse.
I think the hunting industry came to and end that summer.
Unfortunately, the “war” killed off much of the wild game.
During my father’s 1st tour in Vietnam, mid to late 50’s, he had hunted big game–rhinos & leopard.
I have the horns of 3 rhinos & the complete taxiderm. of a lg. leopard. They are to be donated to a major natural history museum.
The latter roamed near Laiku, the rhinos don’t know what province. Whether via ‘sport’, conflict or human expansion, these disapeared creatures indeed reflects an additional sad episode of the country’s history.
