Missouri Veterans Stories- Veteran Heroes, Amazing Stories

Missouri Veteran Stories

Did you know there are over 23 million military veterans living in the U.S. today? They are neighbors, parents, co-workers, employees, grandparents, PTA members, baseball coaches, grocery store workers, teachers, firemen, friends – they live, work and play in your hometown.

There are millions more that live in our minds and hearts since they have deceased.

The blanket of freedom under which we live was woven by our veterans and we are looking for stories from ALL veterans, regardless of when, where, and how they served. Each has a unique story and together they tell the story of the sacrifice that has won and continues to secure our Freedom. They are America’s Veteran Story!

Remembering today my hero, one of the greatest men of the Greatest Generation…my Dad, who died a week ago. At 94, Dad lived a full life and served his country with distinction and honor for 32 years in the U.S. Navy, and as U.S. Naval Attache to Viet Nam, Laos and Cambodia from 1958-60.
Our flag is flying high in Dad’s honor and for those many men and women who have heard the call to duty and followed, including my husband, Charles (U.S. Army Infantry 1967-69, Pleiku 1968.)
May God Bless them all for their service and dedication to duty and to our Nation.
Suellen, daughter of Cdr. James A. Oliver, Jr.

Suellen, my condolences to you and your family for the loss of your father. I am always at a loss of words when it comes to addressing the loss of a loved one. My thoughts are with you.

And a salute to your dad and your husband and all who wore and wear the uniform of the US military.
